A Realm Server Stands
Posted by Staff in Realm on Tuesday, 13 October 2026
Hail, warriors! The realm has a home. For the first time WoR runs on a server of its own, on our own hardware, and the lamp at the top of this page is lit by it.
What is running
- A login service that keeps the realm's accounts and hands out tickets to the world.
- A world server that runs the game itself: the regions, the creatures in them, combat and everything your character does. It saves every character to the database.
- A database that keeps accounts and characters.
- A gatekeeper that puts the login service behind a proper certificate.
They run together as one stack and start by themselves when the machine boots. When the stack stops, the world server saves every character before it lets go.
Testing with bots
Before real warriors arrive, we are filling the realm with test bots. Hundreds of them log in, walk, fight and log out again, so we can see how many warriors one machine can carry and where it starts to struggle. The numbers in the Realm Status box are read live from the server.
Testing
The realm is open for testing by invitation, and you will need your own Warhammer Online game files. Connecting the game client to the realm is the next step. We will post here when it lands. Questions? The War Council on Discord is the place.
